I Love the Singing Bee

July 23, 2007

Say what you want, but the Singing Bee on NBC is GREAT! I’m not sure what I like best – that it’s only a half hour, or that it’s just good, wholesome entertainment. Nothing too fancy, nothing too complicated, if you know the lyrics you move on and if you don’t you sit down. Joey Fatone is perfect for this show. It’s fluff at its best. Plus, you’ve got to hand it to the house band – they sound great. So much better than the band from Dancing with the Stars. Add to that a bunch of songs that I love and thought I knew the words to and I’m hooked.

Of course, a lot of people don’t care for the show. Tom Shales of the Washington Post slams the show. I say, poo poo on Mr. Shales. Sometimes, especially in the summer and in such stressful times in our country, we just need a little light entertainment. This show doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. And lets not forget the little “Bee-ettes.” I like their little bumble bee costumes. Plus, they’re not being exploited like many other girls (can you say Deal or No Deal). These girls just shake their little bee outfits and the cameras cut back and forth so quickly, you don’t have time to be offended. Anyway if you’ve got some time, check out the Singing Bee – it’s amusing!

Bridezillas – Who Knew it was so Popular?

July 13, 2007

Since I’ve started this blog, the most hits I’ve had, pertain to Anita, the Bridezilla who was left at the altar!  I never thought that many people would look for that information.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love that people come here to look at that!  It even makes me want to try and find more information out about the bride.  Is she still married?  Did her daughter move out?  Does she still speak to the rest of the family?  Hmm…  inquiring minds want to know!

Left at the Altar Bridezilla

July 6, 2007

Sorry this post is so late in coming! A few weeks back, the cliff-hanger first episode of Bridezillas showed one of the brides being left at the altar. There are so many things wrong with this story that I don’t even know where to begin. Anita has the daughter from hell. Though, she has to take some credit in raising a 24-year old brat who still lives at home. In any event, Anita’s man finally gets tired of all the drama and decides not to show up to the wedding. Do you think he bothered to call his bride to be and tell her that he wasn’t coming? Did I forget to mention that he has over $1500 with him that was wedding money? He’s a real prize. Well, they wait and wait for him and call him all to no avail. Anita is on camera calling him a thief and a crook and saying she’s going to call the cops on him. All good things in my opinion.

Then you have her sorry excuse for a daughter saying that she never wanted this to happen blah, blah, blah. LIAR! She even said that he might not show. Most of the drama was because of this sad excuse for a woman. The next day comes and apparently Anita has heard from her man and he explained that he just couldn’t deal with the drama. He’s nice enough to concede that he should have called and told her he wasn’t coming. Gee, ya think?!!!!

The kicker comes though when Anita decides to marry him anyway, but in Vegas. So they drive to Vegas that morning and get married. I know, how could she be that stupid. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Her logic in all this?, I knew he was sincere and wanted to marry me because he was crying when we talked. He was crying real tears she says. Sighh… I don’t think words can convey the feelings I have about her decision. In any event, I’m hoping for the best for them!

Bridezillas is Back!

June 25, 2007

One of my favorite guilty pleasures is the We Network show Bridzillas. It features out of control, spoiled brats and their journey to wedded bliss. I don’t know how these people ever got engaged rather less end up married. There is something to be said for the stress of planning a wedding and having “moments” of insanity, but come on. These women – and some men – didn’t just become this way. It has to be present before there is ever a wedding to plan. Last Sunday’s episode dealt with a mom and daughter. The daughter didn’t seem to be doing that well with her mom getting married. Mind you, the daughter is 24, yes 24, and still living at home with her mama. She cussed, fussed and was all around nasty to both her mother and groom. What would my solution have been – slap her for her disrespect, kick her out, and then ignore her. At 24, this girl should know better. Sure her mom gets some of the blame for raising her, but come on, you can’t blame your parents for your behavior forever. At some point you must take responsibility. Tivo has captured last night’s episode, so I’ll have to check that out today to see if this mom gets left at the altar due to her daughter’s nastiness.

Ahh.. good times!
