
What is Wrong with People?
June 26, 2007This week the story continues to unfold in the tragic death of Jessie Davis, the 9-month pregnant Ohio mom who was killed in her own home – apparently in front of her son. This story weighs heavily on my mind for so many reasons. I don’t understand how people can kill someone at all, but especially someone who is due to give birth in just a few short weeks. Allegedly, Ms. Davis’ boyfriend and presumed father of her unborn baby committed this crime. I just don’t get it – regardless of how you feel about the woman, she was carrying your baby – your little girl. Then to hear the haunting words of your two-year old son, “mommy’s crying, mommy broke the table, mommy’s in the rug” – ugh. It sickens me to know that this poor baby may have witnessed his mom and his sister’s death and then was left alone in the house. It is just unimaginable to me that anyone could be so cold.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis family, especially little Blake…
