Updated List of Who Sucks!

January 16, 2008

I’ve got a page somewhere on the blog about who I can’t stand. Angelina Jolie is at the top of that list and shall remain there! Here are some more people that just irk me:

  • Kristin Bell still annoys the crap out of me
  • Chris Daughtry (whom I couldn’t stand after he started acting like a spoiled brat on Idol) had the following to say:

Today, Chris Daughtry told Rolling Stone that AI is “lacking some credibility” and “probably isn’t gonna last too much longer,”

as reported on Watch with Kristin. Hmm interesting considering without American Idol he wouldn’t be where he is today. If they hadn’t beat his stupid “I’m going home” song to death last season would it have been as popular? I think not! What a punk he is.

I think that’s it for right now.  I’m sure I’ll find others though.

The Writer’s Strike

January 16, 2008

Is it just me or are the writer’s getting a little too big for their britches? Now they’ve decided that they won’t give the grammies a pass which shouldn’t really effect the show, however people like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys are in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) which is supporting the Writer’s Guild (WGA) so they may not show up. Ok, so I don’t care about them that much but a lot of people do. Will people watch? I will because I’m sick of the writer’s. Their big cause is great and all but I don’t think they realize just how fickle the tv viewing public is these days. Let’s not even mention the number of people this strike is sending into poverty that have nothing to do with getting the additional money the writer’s want.

I’m over it. Keep striking long enough and I’ll stop watching the majority of television all together. I can exist quite happily on The Amazing Race, American Idol and the wonderful productions of Jane Austen on Masterpiece Theatre. Plus lets not forget that most of tv SUCKS these days anyway. There are some stand outs like Big Bang Theory, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Reno 911!, Carpoolers etc. that I enjoy, but I’m guessing catching up on my reading and doing crossword puzzles will be just as entertaining!

I Don’t Like Kristen Bell

November 1, 2007

That’s right! I said it. So all you Veronica Mars fans can just suck it. She’s not a good actress and is not cute. Why oh why must she ruin Heroes now? She was a NO TALENT on Veronica Mars which lasted WAYYY too long and now she’s a no talent as the voice over on Gossip Girl and as a brat on Heroes. Can we start a campaign to make her stop acting? Please…

Today is My Birthday

September 16, 2007

Today is my birthday and my husband and daughter spent the day helping me enjoy it. My favorite part of the day (besides all the quality time with the fam) was when my husband gave me my gift. He presented me with a year long subscription to US Magazine. I could not have been happier. I can now spend a hour or so perusing the upscale tabloid while taking a break from our rambunctious 11-month old. Thanks for a great gift babe!

The View is now Complete – Welcome Sherri!

September 12, 2007

Finally the View has filled its last vacancy – Sherri Shepard is the new View Co-host!  I have to say, it was awkward watching the ladies WITH Barbara Walters there.  She (Barbara that is) sort of brings the panel down.  She interrupts with random thoughts and statements and takes like 5 minutes to get her point out there.

However, when the View aired yesterday it was very comfortable and easy.  Why is that?  Oh that’s right, because Babs wasn’t there.  Woo hooo!!  I look forward to the days that Barbara is out because then some nice discussions can occur.  One other thing I noticed, Whoopi Goldberg is very fair and neutral while still having an opinion.  I think it balances out the group nicely.  Plus I found it funny that they have shifted Joy’s seat one so that they now are black, white, black white for hot topics.  On the couch though, it’s black on one side, white on the other.  Is there a significance to that?  Hmm, you tell me…

Britney’s Sort of Comeback and Sarah Silverman

September 10, 2007

Britney Spears staged her come back last night on the MTV Music Awards and what a comeback it was.  She was not in the best shape, couldn’t keep time with the lip-synching, and looked like she was sleep walking through the performance.  Normally at this point I would start ripping into Brit Brit, but Sarah Silverman came out guns blasting at poor Britney last night.  First she insults Britney by saying that her career was over by age 25.  Then she crosses the line by calling Brit’s kids “the cutest little mistakes …” – WHOA!  Who does Sarah Silverman think she is?  She’s not that funny on a regular basis but then to pick on two kids on NATIONAL TELEVISION is just over the top!!  These poor little boys can’t pick their parents, how DARE you attack them for it Sarah!  I couldn’t stand you before and now I feel compelled to cheer on the end of your career!

Foxy Brown – Maybe you should have been a Hilton or Ritchie!

September 10, 2007

I don’t really like Foxy Brown or care that much about her, but it seems a little busted that after violating her parole she gets 1 year in real prison whereas Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie – more the latter – get slaps on the wrist and a revolving door for their jail time.  Is Foxy (real name Inga) a more violent offender?  Perhaps, but in my opinion driving down the highway on the wrong side seems like it might be worse to me.  Sorry Foxy, see you in a year!

The New Season is Here

September 4, 2007

Hi everybody – I know I’ve been slacking on posts, but my house has been sick. Any who, today starts the Fall television season!!!! Woo hoo!!! I’m looking forward to ABC’s primetime line up the most I think. They look like they have some quality shows starting later in the month. I’m also looking forward to the new season of talk shows. Hopefully some interesting people will be guesting. This is a busy week for me, but I’ll try to get back and comment on any new stuff.

Missing Person’s Disparities based on Race

August 16, 2007

I read a very disturbing article this morning onmsn.com. It details which missing persons cases get media attention. The prime example is that of Jessie Davis and Stepha Henry. I reported on Jessie Davis in this blog, however, I was not aware of Stepha Henry at the time who had been missing for two weeks longer than Jessie Davis. Stepha is black, Jessie is white. The article Missing People Face Disparity in Media Coverage asks the following question:

Why does Stepha Henry get less coverage than Jessie Davis?

“The answer is pure unconscious racism,” says the Poynter Institute’s Clark. “But it’s not just race. It’s also social class and gender.”

I’m sorry, but there is NOTHING unconscious about this form of racism. It’s crystal clear that more value is placed on a white woman than that of a black woman. The article goes on to discuss that not only race but social standing etc. play a part. However, in this case, that’s not true. Stepha Henry was an honors graduate from a New York university and a good, responsible adult. How can we as a society let this behavior fly? Why is the only reason I heard about this case at all because someone finally noticed and said hey – this isn’t right. At least tell me about the case so that I can choose to listen or not. Our prayers go out to you Stepha and to your family!

If you have any information about Stepha Henry please contact 1-800-CRIME-TV or at the link posted above for America’s Most Wanted.
